Job description

As a key member of a small sales team this role is focused on both the origination of new revenues through the management of an existing client base and the origination of new business. Deepening the relationship with existing clients to identify up sale opportunities and manage retention levels is combined with proactive calling programs to identify, cultivate and close new business directly with clients and via key intermediary channels.
Active contribution to the development and execution of a Greater China strategy is vital with the successful candidate expected to provide insightful value adding commentary and observations on market dynamics to maintain and extend S&P’s position as one of the leading provider of credit rating services in the region.

As part of an externally facing team this role is vital in providing informed market intelligence contributing to the successful execution of S&P key strategic objectives in the region.

The provision of high levels of customer service and identification of up sales opportunities in the existing client base will help protect and grow revenues amongst a core client group.

By successful identifying and closing new business this role is a key contributor to the continued strong growth profile and establishment of strong annuity revenue streams in the region.

The candidate will gain direct exposure to senior representatives of the largest corporate, insurance and financial services organizations in the Greater China region. As part of one the fastest growing region in S&P globally the candidate will have an opportunity to showcase their sales and relationship management skills to a broad internal audience whilst developing a first-hand understanding of current corporate financing and capital raising techniques.

A small (4 person) but expanding team that operates in a collaborative and supportive environment leveraging the world class analytical resources that are part of S&P. This position is part of a broader Asia Pacific sales team and a sub set of a global sales organization.

Our Hiring Manager says:

The expansion of our business in Greater China is one of the key elements of our international growth plans. We are looking for someone with strong relationship and communication skills who is able to confidently engage at senior executive level in our existing and potential client base. Working independently to develop and cultivate these relationships and drive new revenue flow the candidate should have a good working knowledge of corporate financing techniques and the structure and operation of regional debt capital markets. A banking or debt market background is ideal as these skills will be enable the candidate to hit the ground running and provide immediate impact. The candidate should be able to identify key trends in the market place and develop appropriate strategies to position S&P to take advantage of them. Efficient planning and thorough follow through are vital as is the ability to prioritize whilst operating in a complex and multi-faceted organization.

Responsibilities:

Achieve sales target for rating services business in Greater China together with the team, focusing in HK and Southern China.
Focus on traditional cross-border bond market and develop new market including structured finance and high value non-traditional products.
Develop and originate new client relationship in corporate, financial institution service, insurance, structured finance, infrastructure and sovereign sector, understanding client’s needs, maintain high level of customer satisfaction and engagement with the client.
Develop and maintain deep relationship with intermediaries like active investment bank and commercial bank, stakeholder and investors. Develop deep understanding about the market and provide solution.
Working with Greater China CBM team, contribute to the business strategy through a forward looking view in the market, competition landscape, market trends and client requirements.

Qualifications
5 years sales experiences in financial institution, preferred working in corporate banking team, debt capital market
Good networking with corporate and banks
Client facing personality – influencing and interpersonal skills, including effective communication skills
Willing to travel
High level of energy and can do attitude, perform under pressure and can handle multiple tasks
Team player and approach
